It's not every week that a gaming content creator's name ends up in a police FIR instead of a tournament bracket. But that's exactly where things are right now.
On July 16, content creator Kaashvi known as Kaash Plays on Youtube posted a video with a title that didn't leave much to the imagination, "How I Got Scammed by 8bit Thug." In it, she named Animesh Agarwal, known across the community as 8Bit Thug, co-founder of S8UL Esports and CEO of 8Bit Creatives. Her claim, in short: several brand deals she worked on were quoted to her at a fraction of what they were actually worth.
Kaashvi says she only found out the real numbers after a conversation with fellow creator Mortal, who's also a co-founder at S8UL. Once she started asking questions, she alleges, a large share of the money never made its way to her, and the communication from Thug's end reportedly went quiet not long after. She posted on Instagram Saying,
For a long time, I trusted the people who were managing my career. Over time, I discovered what I believe were serious financial frauds and breach of trust, which are serious penal offenses, involving my former management, 8Bit Thug from S8UL and 8Bit Creatives.
She's taken the matter further than a video, too. An FIR has now been filed at Santacruz Police Station in Mumbai, which puts the allegations formally on record with law enforcement.
What's Actually Confirmed
Strip away the speculation, and here's what we can be verify right now:
- Kaashvi has filed an FIR naming 8Bit Thug directly.
- She's released a detailed, on-camera video walking through her side of events.
- Neither Animesh Agarwal nor S8UL/8Bit Creatives has said anything publicly in response, at least as of this writing.
That silence is worth sitting with for a second. Filing an FIR doesn't mean a court has ruled on anything, it simply means police can now look into the complaint. Nobody has been found guilty. Nobody has even had the chance to respond in public yet. It's one account, told from one side, and that's an important thing to keep in mind before drawing conclusions either way.
Why the Community Is Paying Attention
Kaashvi isn't some outsider making noise for attention. She's been part of the 8Bit Creatives roster for years, sharing space with names like Mortal, Scout, and Payal; an agency that's landed brand partnerships with the likes of Netflix, Coca-Cola, and OnePlus. When someone from inside that circle comes forward with fraud allegations, it's bound to shake things up well beyond her own fanbase.
There's another layer to this timing that people online haven't missed. This controversy has surfaced right as S8UL's teams are struggling at the Esports World Cup, and some fans have started connecting dots that may or may not actually be connected; suggesting the org's troubles are being piled on, possibly on purpose, while it's already down.
That theory deserves a reality check. Right now, it's just rumours and chatter, there's no solid evidence linking the timing of this FIR to anything happening at the tournament. It's fair to mention it, since it's part of the conversation online, but it shouldn't be treated as fact.
What Comes Next
For now, only one side of this story has been told. Kaashvi has laid out her version in detail, and until 8Bit Thug responds — or until the police investigation runs its course, there's no independent way to confirm the financial claims at the center of this.
Disputes over brand deal payouts aren't new in India's creator economy; they tend to play out quietly, in DMs or lawyer letters. What makes this one different is that it's gone all the way to an FIR, out in the open, for fans to watch unfold. This piece will be updated the moment either side makes a public statement or new details surface from the investigation.
