Minecraft Q3 update and features!
The building community is going bananas over this new update as this brings a whole new biome, a new slab and stair variants, offering completely redefined architectural toolkit for the community to express their creativity—a temporary bed and most important of all- The ability to finally SIT DOWN!
SIT DOWN on the CUSHION!
Ask any longtime Minecraft player what's missing from the game, and you'll probably hear the same answer: a chair. Not a minecart disguised as a chair. Not a boat wedged into a wall. An actual place to sit. Mojang has apparently been listening this whole time, because the next update adds exactly that! a little item called the Cushion.

It comes in all 16 wool colors, so matching it to your build isn't a problem. You craft one from three Wool Slabs of the same color, and once it's placed, a few quirks come with it: it has no collision (so mobs and other players walk straight through it), it snaps and breaks if you knock out the block underneath, and it'll happily sit on top of stairs, slabs, snow, and other short blocks. offering multiple creative ways for the building community to enhance their builds.
New biome!
The update also brings the Dappled Forest, a lighter, warmer-toned biome full of poplar trees and autumn colors — a nice change from Minecraft's usual dark, dense woods. Wander through it and you'll occasionally stumble on an Abandoned Camp: a small, half-forgotten campsite with straw beds, loot, and yes, cushions scattered around a fire like someone just stepped away.
Wool Slabs and Stairs, at long last

Here's the thing — you can't make cushions without Wool Slabs, so Mojang had to add those too, along with Wool Stairs. Builders have wanted these for ages, and it's honestly overdue. Wool has always felt like the neglected material next to wood and stone, and now it can finally do everything they can. Sofas, benches, colorful rugs shaped like actual furniture — expect servers to look noticeably cozier within a week of this dropping.
A bed that doesn't ruin your spawn point

If you are more of a traveller and explorer— like me, and had to sleep in a random bed while traveling and instantly regretted it and got anxious about losing all your stuff after respawning at the world spawn point, thousands of blocks away from your base and your stuff, the new Straw Bed is for you. Craft it from three Hay Bales, use it to skip the night, and your spawn point stays exactly where it was. but keep in mind— it only works once, then it's gone for good. Think of it as a one-night stay at a motel, not a permanent bedroom. This allows the players to travel further distances without worrying about changing the spawn point every time and keeping track of the coordinates.

This update might be about cushions and cozy campfires, but Mojang rarely stays quiet for long. Past patterns suggest more building blocks, biome expansions, and quality-of-life fixes are already in the pipeline for late 2026. The kind of small, thoughtful additions that quietly reshape how millions of people play. If there's one thing this cushion update proves, it's that Minecraft's best updates aren't always the flashiest. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. Stay tuned if you are also waiting for an End Update just like me — this is far from the last surprise Mojang has planned.
