After years of speculation and leaks, Rockstar Games has finally put an end to the guessing game. Grand Theft Auto VI will launch in Fall 2025, the publisher confirmed during a surprise investor call on Thursday evening.
The game will debut exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version expected to follow within 12 to 18 months — mirroring the rollout strategy used for GTA V back in 2013.
Set in the fictional Vice City-inspired state of Leonida, GTA 6 features dual protagonists — Lucia and an unnamed male partner — in what Rockstar describes as its "most ambitious open world ever built." The map is rumored to be the largest in franchise history, featuring dense urban areas, swamplands, and coastal resort towns.
Pre-orders are expected to go live in the coming weeks. Rockstar hinted at multiple editions, including a Collector's Edition with physical bonuses. GTA Online integration for the new title is also confirmed, though details remain scarce.
Industry analysts predict GTA 6 could generate over $1 billion in its first week alone, surpassing the record set by its predecessor. Take-Two Interactive's stock surged 8% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
