Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Is Finally Here — Here's Everything We Know

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is here! Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, cast details, plot hints, and release date—everything revealed so far.

Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Is Finally Here — Here's Everything We Know

So it happened. After weeks of glitchy teaser codes, Reddit theories about exact release times, and one very confident guess about a South Korean ratings board leak, Marvel finally dropped the full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. And honestly? It delivers.

If you've been staying off Twitter to dodge spoilers, don't worry — you haven't missed the whole movie. Just the setup. Here's what actually happened in the trailer, who showed up, and what it means for December.

Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom

yes, the same guy who spent over a decade being Tony Stark, is back in the MCU. Except this time he's not the hero. He's Doctor Doom.

RDJ DOOM doomsday movie

There's something a little unsettling about watching him step into that role. He already popped up briefly in Fantastic Four: First Steps last year, though his face was hidden the whole time, so this trailer is really the first real look at him as Doom. And it's not played for laughs or nostalgia. It's genuinely eerie.

What Happens in the Trailer

It opens with Doom sitting alone on his throne in Latveria, walking past this huge, haunting painting of his wife and son. Then things pick up. Thor shows up with the Fantastic Four to meet the newer Avengers lineup, and there's this small, almost funny beat where Steve Rogers has to summon Thor's hammer just to prove he's actually him. Trust issues, apparently, run deep even among superheroes.

The big moment, though — the one everyone's going to be gif-ing for the next week — is Thor hurling Stormbreaker straight at Doom. And Doom just... catches it. One hand. No effort, no dramatic struggle. It's a small shot, but it says everything about how powerful this guy is supposed to be.

The trailer ends on Doom commanding an army of Sentinels, and his final line lands like a punch: "One day you will forgive me."

Chills, honestly.

Who's Actually in This Thing

The cast list reads like three different franchises got shoved into a blender:

  • Chris Evans back as Steve Rogers
  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Letitia Wright as Shuri
  • James Marsden as Cyclops (yes, X-Men are here now)
  • The Fantastic Four, including Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing
  • Tenoch Huerta as Namor
  • And of course, Downey as Doom

It's a lot. Maybe too much, some fans are saying online — but that's kind of always been the pitch with these big Avengers crossover movies.

Release Date, Runtime, and the Theater Stuff

Doomsday hits theaters on Friday, December 18, 2026. Runtime is sitting at around 165 minutes, which puts it right between Infinity War and Endgame — not the longest Marvel movie ever, but not short either.

Marvel's also rolling out something called "Infinity Vision" for this release, a new premium large-format screen certification, and tickets for those are already being sold. Whether that actually changes the viewing experience or is mostly marketing, we'll find out in December.

Who's Behind the Camera

Joe and Anthony Russo are directing again — their first Marvel movie since Endgame back in 2019. That's not a small detail. These are the guys who made Civil War and Infinity War work, so expectations are already sky-high. Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely wrote the script, both familiar names if you've followed the MCU's writing credits over the years.

DOOM

And What Comes After

Doomsday isn't the finale. It's setting up Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently scheduled for December 17, 2027. So think of this movie as the buildup — the moment where old heroes, new faces, and one very scary villain all end up in the same story before things really blow up next year.

So, Worth the Hype?

Look, superhero fatigue is a real conversation people are having right now, and fair enough. But this trailer does something a lot of recent Marvel releases haven't managed, it actually made people stop scrolling. Robert Downey Jr. playing against type, three universes crashing together, and directors with an almost perfect track record. That's a hard combination to ignore.

December 18 is going to be a big one.
