Nintendo delivered a blockbuster Direct presentation on Wednesday, unveiling the complete launch lineup for the Switch 2. The hour-long showcase featured over 30 titles, with Mario Kart World and a brand-new 3D Zelda adventure headlining the day-one offerings.
Mario Kart World is being positioned as the system seller, featuring 96 tracks at launch across 12 themed cups, 48 playable characters, and an open-world "Free Drive" mode that lets players explore interconnected racing environments. The game supports up to 24 players online — a franchise first.
The unnamed Zelda title appears to be set in a entirely new world unconnected to Hyrule, featuring a female protagonist who may or may not be Zelda herself. The art style blends cel-shaded visuals with photorealistic environmental detail, leveraging the Switch 2's Nvidia T239 chipset.
Third-party support is stronger than ever for a Nintendo launch. Assassin's Creed Shadows, Cyberpunk 2077 Complete Edition, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are all confirmed for the launch window. Epic Games also showed Fortnite running at 1080p/60fps docked — a major technical milestone for a Nintendo platform.
The Switch 2 launches on June 5th, 2025 at $399.99 for the standard model and $449.99 for a bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
