Zelda fans are loosing it after an Australian eshop listing showed a digital price for the Ocarina of Time remake for a brief moment.
And this all happened just hours before the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct went live on September 8. AU$94.95,
This is not a random price, It's the exact price Nintendo already charges for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, one of only a handful of Switch 2 exclusives sitting at the "cheaper" end of the platform's price ladder rather than the $79.99 tier occupied by Mario Kart World.
Fans did the currency math within minutes, landing on an expected US price of roughly $59.99 digital, with a New Zealand storefront quietly confirming a matching NZ$104.95 figure around the same time. A UK price near £49.99 followed from the same conversion.
Release Date :
The Direct's other headline was the release date: November 5, 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. That slots Ocarina of Time just two weeks ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI's November 19 launch, A very bold move when other game companies are scratching their head whether to delay or advance their game releases so it doesn't get affected by GTA 6's big drop.
Major Changes In The Remake :
- Quest Log : No more trying to remember or noting down the cryptic hints given by Navi, the remake will include a proper quest log which can track objectives.
- A Jump Button : After 3 decades of players rolling everywhere to fake vertical movement, the remake is going to include a Jump button!!
- Microphone Based Ocarina Play : letting players blow into the Switch 2's mic to perform songs instead of relying purely on button prompts is gonna be a different experience for old players in this remake, alongside a companion physical ocarina peripheral Nintendo showed off separately.
- Enhanced visuals and re-recorded orchestral music though series producer Eiji Aonuma was explicit that the team isn't chasing "realistic graphics", this is a modernized version of the original's style, not a from-scratch reimagining in the vein of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
- New amiibo figures for Young Link and Young Zelda, timed to the launch

What Can The Indian Audience Expect?
Nintendo hasn't published any official Switch 2 software pricing for India yet, and the eShop's regional listings for Ocarina of Time remains unconfirmed for the Indian storefront at the time of writing. Going by how other Switch 2 titles have been priced regionally, the Indian gamers can expect the digital edition to land somewhere in the ₹4,500–₹5,500 range once local pricing is confirmed, with the physical cartridge likely carrying a modest premium, though import pricing and retailer markups could push that higher for early copies.
Looking Ahead
Even though the leaks took the surprise out of the Nintendo Presentation, both new and old veteran players are eagerly awaiting the release with the prices being cheaper than what many people were expecting. The gamers can only hope that this remake that is leaning into faithful modernization rather than reinvention isn't much of a letdown.
